Gordon Lam
MSW, RSW | Fertility Therapist
Gordon's path into social work comes from both his personal experiences and the people he's had the privilege of supporting. Born in Sudan, he spent part of his childhood navigating poverty, instability, and family separation before moving to Canada on an athletic scholarship. Those experiences taught him resilience, and showed him how hard it can be to ask for help when you're expected to appear strong.
As a Black man and former varsity athlete, Gordon witnessed firsthand the stigma around mental health, particularly among men, athletes, and people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and that continues to shape how he practices today. He's supported children, adolescents, university students, athletes, and adults through anxiety, depression, life transitions, and identity development, always drawn to creating a space where people feel genuinely heard and accepted without judgment.
He's especially passionate about supporting families through the emotional complexities of fertility, family building, pregnancy, and parenthood, and believes everyone deserves a safe space to process it all without feeling alone.

Gordon's approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to the unique experiences of each person he works with. He believes every individual is the expert in their own life, and his role is to provide a safe, supportive space to explore challenges together while building on existing strengths.
He draws from a range of evidence based approaches, including CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, and strengths based and trauma informed practices, adapting his approach to meet each person's individual needs, values, and goals. What makes his approach unique is the combination of his personal journey and professional experience. He strives to create a therapeutic relationship built on trust, curiosity, and genuine care, where you can show up exactly as you are and know you won't have to navigate your journey alone.

A session with Gordon is a space where you can show up exactly as you are. You don't need to have the right words, have everything figured out, or feel like you need to carry everything on your own. Sessions are collaborative and conversational. He'll take time to understand your experiences, ask thoughtful questions, and work alongside you to identify your goals and what feels most important to you.
Gordon believes therapy should feel both supportive and empowering. He'll offer compassion and validation, and he'll also gently challenge you when it serves your growth. Above all, he wants clients to leave knowing they don't have to face life's challenges alone.
